Fulham World War One Memorial, All Saints church.

 All Saints Church, Fulham has a World War One memorial in the form of a triptych. 

 

This is a work in progress, so please be patient. I'm working on an old laptop that is painfully slow.

I will be writing a small bio about each name on the memorial and most of my research will be with the 1911 Census and CWGC website.

There are a total of 86 names on the memorial, including the Lads Brigade names.

F. Adams -  There is an interesting edit on the CWGC site for F Adams, it states his name is an alias and to search for F Adkins. So I did, and the following entry came up; Gunner F Adkins, service number 48425, Royal Field Artillery, 5th Reserve Bde. Gunner Adkins died on the 6th February, 1917. He is buried at St Nicholas church in Tooting, London. This is why I'm going to assume I have the correct veteran as Tooting isn't that far from Fulham.

J. P. Adams Sergeant, service number 200633, East Surrey Regiment, 1st/5th Bn. Died 8th November, 1917 aged 32. Buried in Kut, Iraq. The husband of Hilda Bannister Adams of 23 Basuto Road, Parsons Green, London. The following is inscribed on his headstone "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die".

L.G. Andrews - Leonard Godfrey Andrews, Rifleman, service number: 471893, London Regiment (The Rangers) 2nd/12th Bn.  Died 24th April, 1918, aged 24. The son of Rosina  Andrews of 41 Elsenham Street, Southfields. Remembered on the Pozieres Memorial, Panel 88, France. On the 1911 Census, there is no mention of a father for Rifleman Andrews, but it does state his mother had been married 27 years,  his elder brother Stanley is listed as head of the household. Rifleman Andrews occupation at this time was joiners apprentice. 

S. J Andrews - Sydney James Andrews, Sergeant service number: 1335. London Regiment, Royal Fusiliers, 3rd Battalion. Died 5th July, 1916 aged 23. Buried at Hebuterne Military Cemetery, France, Panel IV 7.  Husband of Minnie Hodgson (formerly Andrews) 31 Himley Road, Mellinson Road, Tooting, Wandsworth. 

E Badelow -  No results found on CWGC or 1911 Census

A Barker -  Too many to narrow down on CWGC

C G Barton - Charles Goodrum Barton, Company Sergeant Major, Service Number; SS7531 Army Service Corps 6th Labour Coy. Died 18th October 1918, aged 49 years. Buried at Ste. Marie Cemetery, Le Havre, France. Husband of Ada E Barton of  122 Hurlingham Road, Fulham. Unable to find on the 1911 Census.

R  Boncey - There's only one Boncey named on CWGC, so I'm going to presume it's him. Rifleman Richard Walter Boncey, London Regiment (Queen Victoria's Rifles). Died 24th January, 1917, aged 28.

J Butcher - No close matches on CWGC or Census 1911.
